FAQ

The Embassie Independent Hostel offers accommodation from  £19 (single bed) and from  £45 for a double room. Please ask in advance for group special deals. Help yourself to free coffee, toast, jam and marmalade at any time during your stay.  If you wish to cook, we offer a self-catering kitchen stocked with any cooking implement you might require.  There are no lock out or curfew times.

We have two kitchens and a game room, satellite TV.  We also offer laundry facilities, a backyard with a barbeque for your use and, of course, hot showers.

Do I need a reservation?

A reservation is not essential but you are welcome to book ahead if your travel plans allow. Liverpool hosts a number of popular events during the year, such as the Grand National horse races in March and the immensely popular Beatles convention in August. Often a particular sporting event will bring a number of visitors to Liverpool, so it’s a good idea to book accommodation if you can. However, the Embassie will try its best to accommodate you if you do arrive without a reservation. If we are fully booked, we will try to help you find other accommodation if we can.

Can I have a single room?

As the Embassie is a converted Georgian home, we are not able to offer single rooms. Nevertheless, our small double room is suitable for one person. We offer dormitories of varying sizes and will try to accommodate single sex rooms or mixed dormitory rooms as we are able. Let us know about you or your group and we will try to make you as comfortable as possible.

Can we book as a group?

Yes, you can. The Embassie asks that groups of 4 or more pay in advance of their stay to secure their reservation. The Embassie offers group special deals ; it is best to phone ahead to arrange your booking.

Normally, we prefer that our travellers be over the age of 16, but speak to us about your group. The staff will try their best for you.

Must I bring my own sleeping bag or bedding?

No. The Embassie provides pillows, sheets and comfortable duvets for your use.  You may use your own sleeping bag and sleep sack if you prefer. Most of the hostellers bring their own towels, but we have them to lend at no charge if you forget yours.

What time do I have to check out?

We don’t have a check out time. You are welcome to stay with us until the departure time of your transportation. We will ask that you make your bed available for newly arriving hostellers, but you are welcome to use other rooms in the house until it is time for you to depart.

When can I check in?

The Embassie is staffed 24 hours a day but, so as to not disturb others, we ask that you check in between 9am and midnight.

Who else will be staying there?

People just like you.  We only accept international travellers. There are a number of facilities for local people in Liverpool, so we can assure you that you will meet other backpackers like yourself who are looking for quality budget accommodation.

Do you have lockers?

We have both large and small lockers; just ask staff for details.

Let’s see if I understand this.  No lock out or curfew; free tea, coffee and toast; no set check ut time and lots of amenities.  What’s the catch?

There is no catch. Come to the Embassie and you will enjoy a backpackers hostel designed and managed by a backpacking hosteller. It’s as simple as that.
